Forest Stewardship Council
Quartier is deeply committed to the environment and to business practices that preserve and protect the world’s resources. That’s why we are so proud to be certified by the Forest Stewardship Council of the United States.
The Forest Stewardship Council is a nonprofit organization dedicated to setting standards for sustainable forestry both in the U.S. and internationally. The organization bestows its certification on businesses such as paper manufacturers, builders, printers and others that practice sound environmental stewardship.
For a printing company to be certified, the requirements go much deeper than trying to be as green as possible. The FSC certification logo means that our paper can be traced back to the trees that produced it along a chain of suppliers who all have been certified for their responsible practices.
It’s not an easy certification to receive, but it speaks to the responsibility that we feel for the environment.
Sustainable Forest Initiative
The Sustainable Forestry Initiative (SFI) program is a comprehensive system of principles, objectives and performance measures developed by professional foresters, conservationists and scientists, among others that combines the perpetual growing and harvesting of trees with the long-term protection of wildlife, plants, soil and water quality. The SFI Standard spells out the requirements of compliance with the program. The SFIS is based on nine principles that address economic, environmental, cultural and legal issues, in addition to a commitment to continuously improve sustainable forest management.
EPA Green Power Partner
EPA’s Green Power Partnership is a voluntary program helping to increase the use
of green power among leading U.S. organizations. Organizations are encouraged to
purchase green power as a way to reduce the environmental impacts associated
with conventional electricity use.
The Green Power Partnership works with hundreds of leading organizations,
including Fortune 500 companies, local, state, and federal government agencies,
manufacturers and retailers, trade associations, as well as a growing number of
colleges and universities. Partners are purchasing billions of kilowatt-hours (KWh) of
green power annually, which has the equivalent impact of removing the emissions
of hundreds of thousands of passenger cars from the road each year.
